October 12, 2024 Walk

It is a beautiful day today. The sun is shining, it's a cool 63°, it's breezy and oh, the colors. Autumn is here. This mornings walk consisted of listening to a podcast and being stopped twice during each lap by my cat, lol.

I laugh because he watches me like a hawk and because I know he wants to make sure I'm not leaving.

I did a little digging when I came in and found out why he does this. Cats are social creatures, I think we all know this. (Most of the time anyway, lol), and there are a few reasons for this behavior.

  • Attention seeking

  • Routine - if this is a regular routine, your cat may associate it with a chance for attention

  • Curiosity - Cats are curious and seriously want to be involved with everything you do (at least mine does, lol)

  • Need for reassurance - This is so true for my cat - he needs to know I'm not leaving - he hates change so keeping me in his sight and getting a quick pet helps him feel comforted and secure.

Pay attention to your cat and respond to him/her positively. They feel emotion! They are natural protectors, they love attention (on their terms, lol) and genuinely care about you.

If you have an awesome cat like me - and you really pay attention you'll figure out all of their little habits and anxieties and strengths.

My cat, like I said hates change and disruptions. He gets very anxious if one of us is not home on time or if we don't come home for whatever reason. He craves attention, loves to be snuggled and loved on. He is nosy and wants to be involved in everything I do. He follows me everywhere. We even have a daily routine where he comes in and sits with me for 30 to 60 minutes - it's during this time that he has my undivided attention, plus I slow down during that time to relax and sit with his calming energy.

I don't think cats are given enough credit. They are so special, loving, attentive, protective but also aloof and independent.

They are also very healing - infact - a cats purr can help with:

  • Joint mobility and tendon repair

  • Help heal injured muscles and tendons

  • Reduce pain

  • Reduce stress

  • Reduce blood pressure

Just sitting with a cat has wonderful healing effects.

One last thing - 528hz is the frequency you can play for your cat to help with healing him/her. Bet you didn't know that? LOL And of course, they love Reiki too :-)

Enjoy your day and most of all, enjoy your cat.
