As I was out enjoying my morning walk today and noticing all of the leaves on the ground, I started thinking.
What does Autumn/Fall really signify?
I know for some, fall is about the colors, and cooler, crisp air. The anticipation of the upcoming holidays, apple cider, warm cozy fires, sweatshirts, the autumn air smell, crunchy leaves, hot cocoa and marshmallows. And...it is
But,
Digging a little deeper, this is what else Autumn signifies......
The beautiful fall colors of the changing leaves actually represent change, transition and renewal.
They also provide. By this I mean, the fallen leaves provide shelter for small animals and insects, act as a natural mulch for soil, helping to retain moisture, enrich the soil and help prevent soil erosion. Providing and preparing for new growth.
For us as humans, Autumn signifies letting go of what no longer serves us.
Abundance (harvest is ready to be enjoyed)
Autumn is also a sign of slowing down, preparing for rest and self care.
Things are not dying, just preparing for rest, slumber, growth and renewal.
It's beautiful really when you pay attention, listen, and feel to understand how everything is so connected.
Go out and enjoy this beautiful season.
