Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for relaxation and stress reduction that promotes the body's natural ability to heal itself. Life force energy flows through all living things. Stress and trauma of everyday life can keep this energy from flowing properly. Over time this energy becomes blocked and if left untreated,  emotional, mental  and physical symptoms may occur. Reiki helps restore the energy to its optimum state and supports the bodies own natural healing process. Reiki treats the whole person, body, emotions, mind and spirit-helping the client to feel peace, relaxation, and security.

Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or religious practice, therefore it is suitable for people with any background, belief, or age.

What should I expect from my Reiki session?

Whether in person or distant, Reiki sessions vary from person to person.  Most people do report being deeply relaxed.  Other reported feelings include cold and hot sensations, tingling, pulling/tugging or feelings of being very light or heavy.  Some people also see colors or images and some even fall asleep while others feel nothing at all.
The key is to not expect something to happen.  Reiki ALWAYS works and works on all levels.  You don't have to feel anything to know it worked, just be open to receive.

How should I prepare for my session?

Be relaxed and open to receive.  Wear comfortable clothing, eat a light meal and be well hydrated.  You'll also want to use the restroom before your session starts so you can be comfortable laying on the table for the duration of your session.

How will I feel after my session?

Just as in during a session, being deeply relaxed and feeling lighter and having less pain is commonly reported.  The positive effects of Reiki can last for days or even weeks.
Although rare, some have reported having a headache,  feeling tired, down,  or moody.  This too is a normal process of release and is actually a positive symptom and will subside.  If you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your Reiki practitioner.

Do I need to schedule a follow up session?

Talk with your practitioner and together you can decide on a follow up date. Common suggestions for follow up appointments range from one week, two weeks, or longer. Regular sessions are a part of your regimen to help support maintaining balance and wellbeing.

Please remember that it takes time for imbalances and blockages to occur and manifest, so multiple sessions may be the and most beneficial in releasing them.
